Sports and Remedial Massage Therapy
Whether you are a professional athlete, local club player, or someone who is suffering from the normal stresses and strains of life; sports and remedial massage can help.
Remedial massage is one of the most effective ways to treat and prevent muscle injuries, pain and soreness.
“A remedial massage therapist aims to treat and ‘remedy’ the problem being experienced by the client. To offer a real remedy you must do more than just ease the pain; you must also understand how the problem came about and how it can be avoided in the future.”
Some of the conditions that Sports and Remedial Massage can help:
Headache/migraine
Back ache
Neck pain
Knee pain
Tennis elbow
Golfer’s elbow
Pelvic pain
Piriformis syndrome
Sciatica
Repetitive strain injury (RSI)
Arthritis
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Lymphatic Drainage
Many other conditions and problems can be treated effectivelyy, so please contact Phil to discuss your problem further.
Treating the injured area can in the immediate term relieve the pain. However, the therapist must get to the root cause of the problem if they are to understand and treat the problem fully. The initial consultation often involves a postural assessment, movement screening, range of movement (ROM) testing or muscle strength testing to assess the client thoroughly.
Each treatment will involve massage and the use of other advanced soft tissue techniques such as Neuromuscular techniques (NMT), Muscle Energy Technique (MET), Soft Tissue Release (STR), Positional Release Technique (PRT), and Myofascial Techniques. The use of a wide variety of advanced techniques besides massage ensures the best possible outcome from the treatment you receive.
After each treatment, you will be given home care advice to aid the rehabilitation of the injury and to help prevent the injury happening again. This may include strengthening exercises, ice treatment or stretching exercises among other things.
